MLA acquired LGI CFO in October 2019, joining two consulting firms with a shared commitment to providing strategic financial management services. The acquisition allows Dayton-based MLA Companies to expand its geographic reach into Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, where LGI was founded 30 years ago.
LGI vetted multiple options for its future growth, and determined that MLA’s philosophy, client service framework, value set, and business purpose provided the best fit, says Steve Lumley, founder, and CEO of LGI. “We see an awesome fit between our values and MLA’s,” says Lumley. “I’m confident that being part of MLA will allow us to expand our services to clients and provide greater opportunities for our team.”
Lumley and MLA Companies CEO Seth Morgan have been friends for many years. In fact, Morgan says he considers Lumley to be one of the pioneers of the “fractional CFO” model, in which a CFO provides services in a part-time, retainer, or contract arrangement.
“MLA is committed to continuing and expanding the presence and reach of LGI, and preserving the company’s great legacy and leadership in the fractional CFO market,” says Morgan. “This acquisition will also allow MLA to invest further in our highly effective Business Redeemed Process and enhance our ability to serve clients throughout southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky.”
